Wedding photographer in Èze

Èze is two villages, separated by four hundred and twenty-seven metres of vertical drop.

Above, the medieval village clings to its rock, entirely pedestrian, with an exotic garden at the summit. Below, Èze-Bord-de-Mer and its properties sit at the water's edge. Between the two runs a path Nietzsche used to walk, and which still carries his name.

Few places offer that kind of range within so small an area. For a wedding, it opens possibilities geography forbids elsewhere.

The upper village, and the walking

Let me say it plainly: the village is entirely pedestrian, built of stairways and cobbled lanes. No vehicle reaches it. This needs planning.

Shoes for the bride, a route chosen in advance rather than improvised, and a schedule that accounts for the climb. In return you get images no estate can produce: stone, vaulted passages, narrow lanes that open suddenly onto six hundred metres of air and the Mediterranean below.

In high season you also share the village with visitors, which makes the timing and the route matter. Early morning and late afternoon, the village empties and becomes another place entirely.

Château Eza

It occupies the top of the village, with terraces that look straight down onto the sea. The late afternoon light there is remarkable, and the surrounding lanes allow you to move on to quieter, more intimate portraits.

The place is exceptional, and like everything in the village it asks you to build the walk into the schedule.

La Chèvre d'Or

Its terraces and gardens descend the cliff in tiers, with ceremony spaces and viewpoints on several levels. Some of the finest spots are tucked away and hard to find without guidance.

As with Château Eza, access and movement through the village are the main constraint, and times or areas may vary depending on the event.

Cap Estel, below

Èze-Bord-de-Mer holds one of the finest venues on the whole coast, and it lets you keep everything in one place: symbolic ceremony on one terrace, cocktails on a second, dinner in the garden, couple session in the grounds.

Infinity pool, private beach below, fireworks over the water, and lunch on the beach the next day. The indoor fallback in case of rain is genuinely good, which is rare at this level.

It is the exact opposite of the upper village: everything happens in one spot, with no walking and no transfers.

Upper or lower, how to choose

The village for stone, height and character. The seafront for comfort, water, and a day that runs without a single transfer.

Combining them is possible and needs organising: allow twenty minutes by road between the two, on a corniche that clogs in summer, plus the climb on foot.

What happens if it rains?

Below, Cap Estel has an excellent indoor alternative. Above, the vaults and covered passages of the village let us keep working through a shower, which is a real advantage.

For the outdoor couple session, I would rather reschedule it for another day, later that week or beyond. You get your images in the light you had in mind.

Frequently asked questions

We are planning from abroad and will not see Èze before the wedding day. How do you work in that case? Everything is settled in advance by call and by message, and I walk the ground on your behalf. Èze asks for this more than most places, because the upper village is entirely pedestrian and the route has to be chosen rather than improvised. I send you the proposed route and the timings, so you approve them without travelling.

Can the whole day happen at Èze-Bord-de-Mer without a single transfer? Cap Estel holds a symbolic ceremony on one terrace, cocktails on a second, dinner in the garden and the couple session in the grounds, with an infinity pool and a private beach below. Lunch on the beach the following day is possible. For guests who have flown in, that removes every transfer from the schedule.

The corniche continues in both directions: Cap-d'Ail and its public coastal path towards Monaco, whose town hall calendar governs many of the weddings that end up here, and Beaulieu-sur-Mer, sheltered by its cliff and workable even in winter, on the western side.
