What the day gives you to live

You come up to the village late in the morning, the road turns, and the vines appear below with the sea behind them. Later, the garrigue holds the heat and the wind drops. In the evening, if your reception faces the château, the stone keeps the light longer than the sky does. These are short passages, and they do not come round twice.

The light, from the village to the beach

It changes in nature over a few kilometres.

In the village and in the vines it is softer than people expect, above all when the sun goes down behind the hills. The relief holds it, cuts it, and gives long ends of day where faces stay modelled.

Towards Pampelonne the landscape turns horizontal. The sea takes the place of the relief and the horizon simplifies the images: fewer successive planes, one line and a sky. It is very beautiful, and it calls for composing differently, by looking for the figures rather than the settings.

How many places fit into one day here?

Two, and the third is always paid for. Depending on the period, access and the traffic of the peninsula completely reshape the rhythm of a day that runs across several places. A schedule that holds in April comes apart in August over the same distances.

How is seasonal traffic prepared for?

By planning the transfers before the day, and keeping margin at every stage. I scout the approaches beforehand so that there is nothing left to think about during the reportage. When the road is blocked, the couple session is what gets cut, and that is precisely what has to be avoided.
